888poker XL Autumn SeriesSummary:

  • Most of the numbered events of the XL Autumn Series smashed their guarantees
  • The Main Event attracted the largest field with 2,002 entries
  • With the XL Autumn Series now over, 888poker is preparing for its live stop in Coventry

888poker’s XL Autumn Series ended successfully, with the festival awarding $1.454 million in total prizes across its numbered events, smashing the guarantee.

The series, which took place from September 17 to October 3, also included numerous side events for a total guarantee of over $2 million.

XL Autumn Series – Key Stats

The XL Autumn Series featured 34 numbered events but only 33 ran, with total guarantees of $1.39 million. While not all events beat their guarantees, the majority of the numbered poker tournaments managed to do so, generating $1,453,690 in total prize pool after attracting 16,618 total entries. That means the numbered events went beyond their initial guarantees by nearly 5%.

The festival culminated in the $250 Mystery Bounty Main Event which came with a huge guarantee of $500,000. The tournament drew the biggest field with 2,002 registrations, and while the total buy-ins only stood at just over $470,000, 888poker collected more than $30,000 in fees to cover the small overlay.

Apart from the Main Event, four other events managed to attract more than 1,100 entries, with the $22 buy-in, $25,000 GTD Mystery Bounty pulling in the second-largest field of the series with 1,289 entries.

The three events generating the biggest prize pools all fell short of hitting their targets but only by a narrow margin. The Main Event missed its guarantee by just 6%, while Event #20: $200K GTD Mystery Bounty and Event #02: $120K GTD Mystery Bounty Opening both came within 5% of their respective targets.

The not-so-strong performances of the bigger events were compensated for by the excellent showing of certain tournaments, such as Event #26: $20K GTD PKO 6-Max which ended up as the best performer of the series, exceeding its guarantee by 63.5%. Event #07: $20K GTD Mystery Bounty High Roller also beat its guarantee by 45.5%.

888poker Gears Up for Final Live Stop of the Year

While the three biggest prize pools of the XL Autumn Series did not break their guarantees, the next 14 all did, and that made all the difference.

Though not that substantial, 888poker would be happy that it still earned a decent profit from running the series. With XL Autumn now in the books, all eyes will be on 888poker’s final live stop for 2023 which kicks off on October 20 in Coventry, England.
