While the bigger events on the schedule failed to hit their targets, the other tournaments performed exceptionally well to cover the shortfall. Of the 18 events that smashed their guarantees, four events went 50% above their promised prize.

Event #6: $33 buy-in, $6K GTD Mystery Bounty Turbo Mini Deep was the best performer of the pack, attracting 337 entries to create $10,110 in total prize pool, 68.50% above guarantee.

Event #7: $320 buy-in, $15K GTD Mystery Bounty Turbo Deep also fared well, awarding $25,200 in total prize money, 68% above guarantee. Event #9: $109 buy-in, $12K GTD 6-Max exceeded its guarantee by 61.67% after creating $19,400 in total prize pool, while Event #1: $55 buy-in, $25K GTD Mystery Bounty Mini Opening crushed its guarantee by 55.80% after generating $38,950 in total prizes.

Event #21: $320 buy-in, $15K GTD 8-Max Grand also attracted a decent turnout, awarding $22,200 in total prize money, 48% above guarantee.

On average, the five events crushed their respective guarantees by nearly 59%, creating a combined prize pool of around $116,000.

The Main Event is usually expected to attract a huge turnout considering that it’s the main highlight of any poker festival, but for the recently concluded XL Spring Series on 888poker, the Main Event fell $70,000 short of meeting its $500,000 guarantee.

Two other big events also suffered overlays, resulting in the operator having to put in $15,000 to make up for the shortfall. And the nearly $90K in total fees was more than enough to cover that amount, which means the latest edition of 888poker’s XL Spring Series was still a success.
