WSOP Circuit 2018-2019 Schedule Announced With Record 28 Stops

The schedule for next season’s World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit is out and players seem to be happy with the schedule which has a record number of stops, plus bigger buy-ins and chip stacks.

The WSOP Circuit 2017-2018 came to a successful close, seeing a total of 133,892 entries and $66,585,658 in prize money being given away across the many stops. The final event remaining for this season’s WSOP Circuit is the Global Casino Championship 2018, which is an exclusive invitation-only event where the Main Event winner and overall Casino Champ from each WSOP Circuit stop will be given free seats.

The Top 50 players of the season’s WSOP leaderboard are also entitled to play the event for free. The championship will be held at the Harrah’s Cherokee from August 7 to 9.

Although many poker players have become richer and more successful after the recently concluded season, the action never stops with the next season ready to launch in August. For the first time, WSOP Circuit will be holding 28 stops throughout the season, kicking off on August 2 at the Harrah’s Cherokee and then closing at Harrah’s New Orleans come May 2019.

Changes To WSOP Circuit 2017-2018

Last year’s stop at Horseshoe Baltimore was dropped for this season while the stop at Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida will be relocated to their Seminole Coconut Creek location. The new season of the WSOPC will feature more stops as well as bigger starting stacks and buy-ins.

In a statement, Jack Effel, tournament director of the WSOP, said

For our fifteenth season, the time was right to take a hard look at our offering and refreshing it to give players a better experience all around. Everyone loves more starting chips, and we think things like the Big Blind Ante and larger prize pools will be big hits for all players.

The regular $365 buy-in events will be bumped up to $400, while the Main Eventbuy-in is being raised from $1,675 to $1,700. Starting stacks will be bumped up accordingly, with 15,000 chips instead of 10,000 for the $400 events, and $30,000 chips instead of $20,000 for the Main Event.

The big blind ante format will also be making its way into the WSOP Circuit, although only a select number of events will accommodate the new format. The 28-stop tour around the US will run from August 2 to May 20. WSOP confirmed that the WSOP International Circuit will also return, but no official schedule has been released so far.
