WPT Announces First Hybrid Online-Live Tournament With WPT500 Mexico City

The World Poker Tour (WPT) is hosting an event exclusively for players on its online poker platform, WPT Global.

WPT500 Mexico City is a hybrid online-live tournament wherein players start the action online and then head to a live finale in Mexico City in May.

Participants of WPT Mexico City will be part of history as it’s the first time that the WPT is running a combined online and live tournament. Spicing things up is a live Mystery Bounty tournament that takes place after the WPT Mexico City event.

WPT500 Mexico City

This event has a buy-in of $550 and features $500,000 in guaranteed prize money. There are multiple Day 1 flights available on WPT Global – they got underway on April 9 and will run through May 21. As this is a best stack forward event, players are permitted to enter as many Day 1 flights as they want, and if they progress to Day 2 more than once, only their biggest stack will carry forward to Day 2.

Day 2 qualifiers will each receive $1,000 travel allowance credited to their respective WPT Global accounts. They will battle it out live at the Frontón México on May 31 and they are all guaranteed to take home some cash.

Those who advance to Day 2 multiple times will have their tournament buy-in refunded within 72 hours of securing a Day 2 seat, with their smaller stacks converted into a Day 2 min-cash. All of that will be credited to their WPT Global accounts.

WPT Global is also running satellites for WPT500 Mexico City which players can enter for as low as $5.

WPT Mystery Bounty

Apart from WPT500, WPT Global players can take a shot at another exciting event, the WPT Mystery Bounty. This is a live tournament also taking place at the Frontón México from May 30-31.

The event costs $5,000 to enter, with WPT Global adding $50,000 to the mystery bounty prize pool. Mystery bounty prizes will be based on the total number of entries, with the minimum bounty set at $1,000.

A number of WPT ambassadors and influencers will take part in the event, which means players can win extra if they eliminate any of them. Just like WPT500, players may qualify for WPT Mystery Bounty via satellites on WPT Global, with buy-ins starting at $5.
