Charlie Carrel, Doug Polk and Fernando “JNandez87” HabeggerSummary:

  • Charlie Carrel said Polk owed JNandez six figures and was forced to pay him after losing a court battle
  • Polk allegedly defamed JNandez on the internet by using SEO techniques
  • Polk said it was him who launched the legal action and not JNandez

Fernando “JNandez87” Habegger was once part of Upswing Poker, the poker training site founded by Doug Polk.

The online PLO crusher eventually ended his partnership with Polk and Upswing Poker in 2019 in what can be considered a bitter split, and since then, both players have been publicly exchanging allegations.

However, unbeknownst to the poker community, the pair’s long-standing feud reached the court, with Polk ending up paying six figures to JNandez. We have Charlie Carrel to thank for that info as he recently spilled the beans about the court case in a three-minute video posted on Twitter.

Carrel Attacks Polk after Revealing Details of JNandez Court Case

Carrel and Polk have bad blood between them. They have clashed multiple times in the past, and on one occasion, Carrel threatened to sue Polk for defamation. While the lawsuit did not happen, Carrel has found a way to get back at his rival by making public what Polk has allegedly been hiding for a long time from his fans and followers – that he lost his legal battle against JNandez over the latter’s resignation from Upswing Poker.

Carrel revealed that JNandez had been forced to take Polk to court to get him to pay a six-figure sum that The Lodge Poker Club co-owner owed him. Polk also allegedly masterminded a reputation attack against JNandez, employing a search engine optimization (SEO) technique so that the Swiss poker pro comes out as a bad person whenever his name is searched on the internet.

According to Carrel, Polk has always painted JNandez as the villain but the court case proves otherwise. Polk was ordered to pay six figures to JNandez and the three-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner tried to keep it a secret, Carrel claimed.

Doug Polk Responds

Polk isn’t the type who would stay silent when his name is dragged into controversy. He rebutted some of Carrel’s claims, saying he was the one who initiated the legal action and not JNandez. But Carrel was quick to respond with more accusations against the Upswing Poker founder.

Carrel also thought it’s ironic that Polk has taken issue with Matt Berkey’s “damaging” comments against the Lodge Card Club’s security when he himself has been dishonest and lying about people’s business, personal lives, and character for years just for the sake of clicks and drama hype.
