The popular Lodge Poker Club in Austin, Texas has attracted a new group of investors, and they are not just like any other investors as they are among the game’s most prominent names.

Doug Polk, Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme have joined forces to buy a stake in the largest poker room in the state.

Austin Poker Scene Continues to Grow

Austin is home to a robust poker scene, with 10 poker clubs operating in the city, among them is the Lodge Poker Club, also known as the “Lodge Mahal“.

The rooms usually run cash games with stakes at $1-$3 and $2-$5, some even going as high as the $5-$10 range. They also have some of the busiest tournament schedules out there, giving locals plenty of options to enjoy the game and win big.

A New Chapter

In March 2021, Doug Polk revealed plans of leaving Vegas, his home for more than a decade. The Upswing poker founder said he’d like to start a new chapter for his life and career in a new location, probably Austin. He stuck to that plan and initially didn’t know that Texas has one of the most promising poker markets in the country.

When Polk realized that poker could soon explode in the state, he then set a goal to launch his own club. But building a room from scratch would be a lengthy process so he decided to become an investor in an already established room.

Meanwhile, poker vloggers Owen and Neeme, who have become more popular for hosting meet-up games (MUG) across the US, have long dreamed of owning a poker room in Texas, but they thought it would not be doable as both of them are currently based in Las Vegas. When Polk approached them and opened the idea about a partnership, the duo didn’t have second thoughts.

Nevada will remain as Owen and Neeme’s home but they will now make regular visits to Austin. Polk also promised to play twice a week at the Lodge which they now co-own. The trio is excited to embark on their new business venture, with Neeme and Owen indicating that they could host their biggest MUG yet in Austin.
