WSOP.com Big SundaySummary:

  • WSOP has upped the ante for its Sunday tournaments, awarding over $340,000 each week
  • The buy-in for the Sunday Major has been reduced from $320 to $100
  • The updated schedule includes new tournaments featuring multiple formats

WSOP players in New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware will be competing for bigger guarantees across more than a dozen major tournaments each week with the launch of an updated Sunday MTT schedule.

This represents the operator’s latest effort as it strives to maintain its status as one of the leading online poker sites in the US regulated market.

New Changes to WSOP’s Sunday MTT Schedule

The updated schedule allows players to get in on the action for as little as $11, with the highest buy-in set at $1,000.

The Sunday line-up is still bannered by the Sunday Major, but the tournament has now been made more affordable with an entry fee of $100, compared to the original $320.

While the buy-in has now been reduced, the $100,000 guarantee remains, which means the tournament now requires at least 1,100 entries to hit its target and prevent an overlay. Those who still cannot afford the $100 buy-in can set their sights on a mini version of the Sunday Major which costs just $10 to enter and offers $10,000 in guaranteed prize money.

The WSOP has added new Knockout and Omaha majors, headlined by the $500 buy-in, $25,000 GTD Sunday Big Knockout. The schedule also now includes a $215 buy-in, $20,000 GTD Sunday Deepstack, along with a $25 buy-in, $7,500 GTD mini edition.

Other key events to be on the lookout for include the Sunday High Roller 6-Max which is now part of the regular Sunday schedule. The $1,000 buy-in, $50,000 GTD tournament was previously available only on the last Sunday of the month.

The traditional rebuy and add-on event, Sunday Madness, remains the most affordable tournament on the schedule which comes with a buy-in of only $11 and a guarantee of $11,111.

The updated schedule also includes a mega satellite to the $100,000 GTD Sunday Major which has a buy-in of $10 with 30 seats guaranteed. The satellite takes place at 4:00 pm, just two hours before the start of the Sunday Major.

Over $340K Guaranteed Each Week

Overall, the new-look Sunday MTT schedule for WSOP players on the shared network covering New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware can look forward to a total of 18 Sunday tournaments with a combined guaranteed prize pool of $344,111. This is up nearly $100,000 from the previous schedule which featured $250,000 in total guarantees.

A similar schedule could be extended to Michigan once the WSOP decides to add the state to its existing US network.
