Aussie Millions Poker ChampionshipThe Aussie Millions Poker Championship is one of the most prestigious and richest tournaments in the Asia-Pacific region and has been growing in popularity with every passing year. The tournament is expected to take place from the 13th of Jan to the 1st of February 2016 and will be held at Melbourne’s Crown Casino.

Crown Resorts recently announced that it had entered into a partnership with Team PokerStars player Jason Somerville in order to promote the tournament via his Twitch video channel. Twitch has revolutionized the way people get their live news, especially in the poker industry and Somerville’s channel is one of the most popular channels on Twitch.

Jason’s Twitch channel has garnered more than 140,000 followers and 9 million views in total in the course of just a few months. Crown Resorts will look to leverage Somerville’s massive social media following to promote its championship and build its brand all over the world.

Jason Somerville is an internationally renowned poker player who has attracted a lot of attention during the last couple of years for his accomplishments in both online and live poker tournaments. He is the first poker player to start broadcasting his tournaments through Twitch and is also founder of a live streaming/video broadcast series called Run It Up, where viewers can learn how to be an exceptional poker player by watching him play. Somerville is also an advanced instructor in poker tournaments as well as being on the PokerVT training team.

In a statement, Somerville said

There’s going to be a ton of streaming. I think the streams have gotten better and better over the course of this year, as I’ve gotten more and more hours under my belt. Of course that’s just how life works. I think the streams are going to continue getting better and better, the quality is going to rise, we’re going to have more live events that are hopefully going to be more integrated into the show

In online poker, Jason has over $2.2 million in tournament winnings, with over 250 ‘in the money’ finishes. In June 2014, he took a 4th place in the 100k High Roller tournament at Bellagio. He placed 6th in the World Poker Tour Los Angeles Poker Classic No Limit Hold’em tournament in 2012. He is also the holder of one World Series of Poker bracelet.
