New Jersey Online Gamblers Can Now Self-Ban From Sites

One of the main concerns anti-online gambling lobbyists raise regarding the legalization of online gambling is that it is bad for society as it encourages gambling addictions due to a lack of proper regulatory procedures. Gamblers who have addiction tendencies often find it hard to resist the challenge of accessing these online websites from the comfort of their home.

While there are de-addiction programs available anti-online gambling lobbyists believe that unless and until stringent regulatory procedures are implemented online gambling will continue to be a threat to society.

New Jersey is one of the three states that have legalized online gambling and have addressed the issues of gambling addictions by giving gamblers with addictions the option to restrict themselves from gambling.

Recently the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) confirmed that it had added an additional option on its DGE website giving gamblers with addictive tendencies the option to register themselves on a prohibited list that will automatically ban them from accessing any online gambling website including online poker. The previous procedure required gamblers who wanted to prevent themselves from playing online to open an individual online gaming account in order to restrict themselves from playing online. Now, gamblers will be able to register directly at the DGE website and after completing they will automatically be banned from accessing all legalized online poker websites in New Jersey. Those gamblers who prefer to register in person can also do so by visiting a DGE office or any racetrack in New Jersey.

The Division of Gaming Enforcement has one of the most comprehensive responsible gaming programs in the country. We strive to be innovative and remain at the forefront of Internet gaming regulation while giving individuals options to play online responsibly, or opt out if that is the right choice for them.

The online registration process for voluntary self-exclusion from online gambling websites is extremely simple. Gamblers will have to answer a number of questions to establish their identity and then accept the terms and conditions imposed by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE). They will be able to choose a self-exclusion plan between 1 to 5 years that will ban then from playing at any online gambling website. Gamblers who wish to voluntarily be self-excluded from brick & mortar casinos must register themselves in person for the registration to be approved.
