  • BetMGM Poker now leads the cash game traffic in Ontario, overtaking 888poker
  • The site runs as part of the partypoker online poker network
  • The network recently launched its Hot Tables feature in the Canadian province

Ontario’s online poker market is doing well less than two months after the first sites went live in the province. Latest figures show there were 105 cash game players in the segregated market over the last seven days. The partypoker Ontario online poker network is far ahead with 66 concurrent cash game players, while rival network 888poker had 39.

The partypoker Ontario online poker network consists of three sites led by BetMGM Poker Ontario. Shortly after launching in the province, the network rolled out its Hot Tables feature, which has been a huge hit among players in partypoker’s global client. Initially introduced in March 2021, the new feature gives away extra prizes in the form of cash drops to players at fast-fold cash game tables.

All players at tables randomly tagged as “Hot” are awarded a cash bonus. Whoever wins the hand walks away with the biggest slice of the prize. Ontarians now have access to the popular feature which is driving more players to the network.

The Hot Tables feature in Ontario comes with prizes categorized as Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. If the table receives either Bronze or Silver, only the winner of the hand gets the prize. For Gold, Platinum, and Diamond, half of the prize goes to the winner, while the other half is divided among the rest of the players at the table.

The feature is currently active on the network’s FastForward fast-fold cash game. Players can enjoy up to 1500 big blinds, equivalent to $1,200 in maximum to prize at the highest stakes.

More Competitors Expected to Enter Ontario

BetMGM Poker went live in Ontario just a day after the launch of 888poker. partypoker and bwin followed suit a week later, merging their player pools with that of BetMGM Poker, which effectively formed Ontario’s first three-skin online poker network. Throughout April, 888 had remained at the top in terms of cash game traffic, consistently attracting 40 concurrent cash game players, while BetMGM Ontario lagged behind with just 30.

The tables started to turn in the first week of May as BetMGM Poker began to gain ground. On May 9, upon the launch of the Hot Tables feature, BetMGM Poker officially pulled ahead of its competitor when it recorded more than 100 concurrent seats. The room is also leading the tournament numbers.

BetMGM Poker, alongside its sister sites partypoker and bwin, will look to maintain the momentum as the competition is expected to get more intense with the potential entrance of PokerStars and GGPoker.
