WSOPE Inks Long Term Deal With King’s Casino
The King's Casino, Rozvadov which is part of the Czech Republic has cemented its place as a major destination for poker after the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) signed a multi-year deal with it earlier this week to host its tour.
In a statement Ty Stewart WSOP Executive Director said,
I have really bought into [owner]Leon [Tsoukernik]’s vision for creating a poker-first destination in Central Europe. When the new hotel and the renovations are complete, and considering the way Leon and staff cater to poker players, this is going to be a very comfortable environment for a large festival such as ours. With King’s backing large guarantees and media coverage, we believe we have found a long term home for WSOPE to replicate the scale we enjoy in Las Vegas.
WSOPE has hosted tour stops at the King’s casino previously. It hosted an event in 2015 and has another event scheduled at the casino for October 2016. The casino is located near the German border and attracts large hordes of European poker players to its tournaments. It currently has around 100 gaming tables and boasts the biggest poker room in all of Europe. In 2015 alone, the casino saw visits by over 250,000 poker players.
The casino recently started work on an extensive renovation and expansion program under which a new hotel facility will be built along with a new gaming space. The casino expansion will result in 40 more poker tables being added to the casino. There is also a hotel being constructed which will have 218 rooms spread over three floors and will have one floor dedicated to luxury suites. Other planned amenities include a wellness centre with Jacuzzis, massage rooms, sauna along with a fitness centre.
According to the agreement between Caesar's Entertainment, the owner of WSOP and King’s Casino, the WSOP will schedule events in the fall of 2017 and 2019 at the King’s casino. These two stops will include a minimum of 10 WSOP gold bracelet events as well as events having €5,000,000 as prize pool guarantees.
Two WSOP Circuit Events will also be held in 2018 and 2020 respectively. The first event will take place in Fall and the second in Spring. There will also be one WSOP Circuit event held every year in Spring during 2017, 2019 and 2021. The WSOP will have all these main event stops filmed and broadcast on television. The WSOP and Kings’s Casino will release a full schedule of events in the lead up to these tournaments.
