Scott BlumsteinWinning the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event is a life-changing moment for any poker player. New Jersey poker pro Scott Blumstein life was changed last year when he won the 2017 WSOP Main Event and took home over $8 million in winnings.

This was by far the biggest poker prize that Blumstein had won in his poker career.

WSOP Main Event winners usually look to ride their wave of luck and play as many high stake poker tournaments as possible.

They also look to take advantage of the media spotlight and secure sponsorship deals with the top poker brands in the business. Blumstein was different – he not only avoided the spotlight but went underground and did not play a lot of poker.

The 26 year old Blumstein has been focusing on his health. Prior to entering the 2017 WSOP Main Event, Blumstein was working on losing weight and getting more fit. However, his Main Event caused him to lose focus of his health and fitness goals and he ended up partying, celebrating and eating what he wanted for six months.

He finally decided to take charge of his life by focusing on his health once again and this time around he is looking to document his fitness journey on video. There are no specific details yet about his fitness show but it is expected to come together before the end of this year.

In a statement, Blumstein said

I am temporarily renting a place down in San Diego, California, with a couple buddies who all play their role in trying to help me get in shape. Every ounce of my energy and strength is going toward that these days. That’s like the main plot of my life going forward. Poker will just be a part of that when I can and when I see fit

Blumstein’s victory in the 2017 WSOP came after several years on the poker circuit. He mainly focused on online poker, with some forays into the live tournament field. After his win, he settled down a bit and decided to be more strategic in his tournament choices. In August 2017, he joined the WPT-Choctaw since winning a WPT title is one of his life goals. He moved on to play in various WPT events, culminating in his attendance of the WPT Five Diamond Classic at the Bellagio in December.

Blumstein has confirmed that while he will focus on working on his fitness show, he will still play poker but be very selective in which tournaments he plays.
