The World Poker Tour (WPT) announced earlier this year that it would focus on expanding its brand into international markets and South America is getting a lot of attention.

WPT Brasil took place earlier this year at the Infinity Blue Resort & Spa Camboriú and was well received with over 3,400 players in attendance.

The WPT will now visit Uruguay and run its WPT Uruguay poker festival at the Enjoy Punta del Este from October 31 – November 5. The 7 day poker festival will feature eleven exciting events and have buy-ins ranging between $220 to $5,000.

The $1,500 WPT Uruguay Main Event and the $5,000 High Roller event is expected to receive the most attention.

This will also be the first time that a poker event is televised from South America. The WPT TV Final Table which comes down to the last six players will be televised during WPT Season XVI programming on FOX Sports Regional Networks. The final table takes place on November 5 and will also be Live Streamed albeit with a 30 minute delay.

Poker players who would like to be a part of WPT Uruguay can enter directly if they can afford the buy-ins or take part in satellite events that are running on the Aconcagua Poker Network and see if they win a qualifying satellite event and gain entry into WPT Uruguay. The WPT Main Event will run from Nov 1 to Nov 5 and the High Roller event will start on November 3.

Poker players from all over South America are expected to take part in WPT Uruguay as the poker festival not only gives players the chance to win a WPT event but allows them to take a relaxing vacation at the beautiful Enjoy Punta del Este which is situated on the beach in a popular tourist haven in Uruguay.

In a statement, Angelica Hael, VP of Global Tour Management for the WPT said

The partnership with Enjoy Punta del Este marks a very special time in the World Poker Tour story. Having experienced first-hand the warm hospitality of the Enjoy Punta del Este team, their world-class amenities, and location right on the beach, will ensure a spectacular experience for all players participating in this must-attend event

WPT Uruguay will not be recognized as an official WPT Main Tour event as buy-ins need to be over $,3500 for it to be part of the official WPT Main Tour. This means the WPT Uruguay Main Event winner will not receive
