WPT Online India To Run In November With INR 135m in Guarantees

WPT Online IndiaThe World Poker Tour (WPT) is set to launch its online series in the India! The WPT has partnered with Adda52 who will play host to the first-ever WPT Online India Series in November, which comes with a massive 135 million INR ($1.8 million) guaranteed prize pool.

The online festival will feature a total of 154 events, running from November 5 – 22, 2020. The series will culminate in the Main Event which has a buy-in of INR 11,000, and offers INR 2.5 crores (approximately $340,000) in guarantees.

Players may enter via 10 starting flights, kicking off on November 11. The action continues through to the final day on November 22, during which a winner will be crowned. Apart from the top prize, the Main Event winner will walk away with a WPT Passport valued at $5,000 which the player can use in any WPT live event, as well as a precious watch sponsored by Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot.

The WPT has also added another layer of excitement to the festival by running not just one, but two Player of the Series of the leaderboards, to make sure players at all buy-in levels are given the chance to take home some extra cash.

The Mega Player of the Series Leaderboard will cover 29 selected MTTs, with entry fees of up to INR 55,000 (approx. $749). Players making the top 10 will share INR 2.5 million ($40,000) in prizes, with the winner walking away with INR 1 million ($13,600) in top prize.

The remaining 125 qualifying events not covered by the Mega Leaderboard will fall under the Mini Player of the Series Leaderboard which will award INR 1 million ($14,000) in extra prizes to the top performers, including INR 300,000 ($4,083) to the winner.

The player who finishes at the top of both leaderboards will also receive a POS trophy.

Those who cannot afford the actual buy-ins may still qualify for a fraction of the price via satellites. Further details, alongside the full schedule of the festival will be released soon.

WPT Aims To Tap Into India’s Growing Poker Market

Online poker continues to enjoy increasing popularity even after COVID-19 restrictions have been eased. With a lot of players now considering shifting to the virtual felts to play and compete, traffic at online poker sites remain high, and the WPT aims to capitalize on this by hosting an online series in India, which is home to a booming online poker market.

The inaugural WPT Online India also bolsters WPT’s partnership with Adda52. Both brands have been working together since 2016.
