A total of 29 awards will be distributed, with the winners to be honored at an awards ceremony on March 3, 2023, at the PokerGO Studio at Aria Las Vegas. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/cherish-andrews-and-stephen-song-win-gpi-player-of-the-year-awards\">Three of the awards already have owners<\/a>, two of which belong to <strong>Stephen Song<\/strong> who was announced as the <em>2022 GPI Player of the Year<\/em> and <em>GPI Mid-Major Player of the Year<\/em>. The other award went to <strong>Cherish Andrews<\/strong> who won the <em>GPI Female Player of the Year<\/em> title.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"2022-global-poker-awards-key-categories\">2022 Global Poker Awards Key Categories<\/h2>\n<p>Apart from the categories already won by Song and Andrews, the other top categories for the 2022 Global Poker Awards include the <em>GPI Breakout Player, Best Final Table Performance, Best Twitter Personality, and Players\u2019 Choice for Toughest Opponent<\/em>. These categories were respectively <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/global-poker-index-releases-list-of-winners-for-2021-gpi-awards\">won in 2021<\/a> by <strong>Johan Guilbert, Adam Friedman, Jamie Kerstetter and Ali Imsirovic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>New categories have also been added for the 2022 Global Poker Awards, such as the <em>Rising Star in Content Creation, Comeback Player and Fans Choice: Fave Live Stream<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to poker players, the annual Global Poker Awards also celebrates the achievements of media personalities and individuals serving the industry. Categories dedicated to them include the <em>Best Industry Person, Best Broadcaster and Best Tournament Director<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"voting-now-open-to-the-public\">Voting Now Open To The Public <\/h2>\n<p>The selection panel will probably have a hard time picking the winners as the potential candidates for some of the key award categories have equal chances of winning based on their performances in 2022. <\/p>\n<p>This makes it hard to predict the winners, unlike in 2021 where <strong>Ali Imsirovic<\/strong> just ruled the entire season with 14 high roller victories. It came as no surprise that he won three trophies, including the GPI Player of the Year. <\/p>\n<p>But for 2022, the Bosnian-American poker pro is unlikely to make the cut given the cheating allegations against him which led to him being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/pokergo-issues-ban-against-ali-imsirovic-and-jake-schindler\">temporarily banned from entering PokerGO events<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first round of voting for the 4th Global Poker Awards took place on January 23, with the selection panel comprised of poker players, media personalities, and poker industry figures. <\/p>\n<p>Fans also have the chance to have their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/blog\/top-10-poker-players\">favorite poker personalities<\/a> included in the nominees\u2019 list, via the <em>Fans Choice Awards<\/em> which cover four categories.
