Summary

Doug Polk‘s latest series ranking the best poker players of all time is gaining momentum, with the final results set to be announced on March 22.

Yesterday, Doug Polk discussed the latest standings via a YouTube live stream lasting three and a half hours. Joining him were Kane Kalas and Mike Brady.

Poker legend Phil Ivey currently tops the list, with Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth and Erik Seidel completing the Top 5.

Polk announced an initial list of Top 100 players when he opened the voting to fans back in February. That list has now been narrowed down to the Top 20.

The latest standings put Phil Ivey at the top with 4,691 votes, followed by Brunson (4,178), Negreanu (4,112), Hellmuth (4,015), and Seidel (3,822).

It comes as no surprise that the Top 5 is comprised of players widely considered as legends of the game. They are all members of the Poker Hall of Fame, with multiple World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelets to their name. Throughout their respective careers, they have earned millions in live tournament cashes.

Ivey, in particular, is a 10-time WSOP bracelet winner. He is regarded as the world’s best all-around player as he excels in different variants and formats. Throughout his career, he has amassed more than $32,300,000 in live tournament cashes, including multiple podium finishes.

Despite the many legal challenges he has faced over the years arising from his gambling pursuits, he remains among the most popular poker players and still continues to crush the tables.
