The Irish poker pro won the latest <em>Unibet Open Main Event<\/em> for \u20ac52,623 in top prize, becoming the first player to ship back-to-back Main Event wins in the tour\u2019s history. O\u2019Neill\u2019s latest victory is also the fourth in a row for his home country of Ireland. <\/p>\n<p>It was just two months ago when O\u2019Neill took down the Unibet Open \u20ac1,100 Main Event which ran as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/unibet-poker-announces-e1-million-gtd-unibet-online-series\"><em>Unibet Open Online Series<\/em><\/a>. The festival concluded on October 12 with the Irishman emerging as the Main Event champion, outlasting a field of 387 entrants. <\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Neill, who went by the alias \u201c<em><strong>John_smith2<\/strong><\/em>\u201d at the time, was able to convert his \u20ac50 investment into a cool \u20ac79,998 in first-place winnings, the largest score of his career.<\/p>\n<p>With Unibet Poker permitting players to change their screen names when competing in tournaments, O\u2019Neill this time opted for the alias \u201c<em><strong>Icarus5<\/strong><\/em>\u201c. All the same, the Irish poker pro managed to top a 230-entry field to take home his second Unibet Open Main Event win in a year! <\/p>\n<p>Overall, O\u2019Neill walked away with a combined \u20ac120,000 in winnings across his two major victories. Fellow Irishmen <strong>Martin Olali<\/strong> and <strong>Max Silver<\/strong> respectively won the two previous editions. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"final-table-results\">Final Table Results<\/h2>\n<p>Nine players reached the final table with all but one choosing to be anonymous at the time by playing under screen names. That one finalist who displayed his real name was no other than <strong>David Lappin<\/strong>, co-host of the award-winning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/chip-race-poker-podcast-comes-back-for-its-seventh-season\">podcast The Chip Race<\/a> and who also serves as brand ambassador for Unibet Poker. Lappin finished fourth for \u20ac20,218.<\/p>\n<p>The other finishers include \u201c<em><strong>Joahoe18<\/strong><\/em>\u201d (9th for \u20ac4,395), \u201c<em><strong>Allinmf<\/strong><\/em>\u201d (8th for \u20ac5,630), \u201c<em><strong>Angelogr21<\/strong><\/em>\u201d (7th for \u20ac7,998), \u201c<em><strong>AudreyBitoni<\/strong><\/em>\u201d (6th for \u20ac10,985), \u201c<em><strong>MsWoodhose<\/strong><\/em>\u201d (5th for \u20ac14, 933) and \u201c<em><strong>VoinTarkista<\/strong><\/em>\u201d (3rd for \u20ac27,460). O\u2019Neill defeated \u201c<em><strong>housepalyer1<\/strong><\/em>\u201d in heads-up play, with the latter taking home \u20ac37,588 for finishing second. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"oneill-thanks-unibet-poker\">O\u2019Neill Thanks Unibet Poker<\/h2>\n<p>Talking about his win, O\u2019Neill acknowledged that luck played a role in his latest victory. The Irishman said he felt \u201c<em>incredibly lucky<\/em>\u201d to be able to achieve such a feat, describing the experience as \u201c<em>slightly surreal<\/em>\u201c. <\/p>\n<p>The Main Event ended up with an overlay, which meant those that finished in the money were able to share $8,500 in extra value.
