In fact, the first-ever <em>WPT Online Series<\/em> which ran back in May on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/reviews\/party-poker\">partypoker online platform<\/a> ended up awarding $52,956,050 in total prize money, going past the $44 million initial guarantee. <\/p>\n<p>The festival was a massive success, attracting 111,183 entries across almost a month of online action. The series awarded $563,362 in average payout for each tournament, including the Main Event which created a new record for the most number of entries (2,130) ever in WPT Main Event history. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"a-unique-twist-on-major-tournaments\">A Unique Twist on Major Tournaments<\/h2>\n<p>One of the major online poker festival\u2019s that just kicked off is the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/partypoker-dropping-wpt-online-championship-tickets-across-tournaments\">WPT World Online Championships<\/a><\/em> promising $100 million in total guarantees. The tournament is once again taking place on partypoker, featuring 12 championship events, alongside several other side events. As to why they\u2019ve decided to come up with an even bigger offer in terms of prize money, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/wpt-shows-faith-in-ceo-adam-pliska-and-renews-contract-for-four-more-years\">WPT CEO Adam Pliska<\/a> said it came as a direct result of the hugely successful <em>WPT Online Series<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>These massive online poker festivals have become quite the norm in the online world since the mid-March lockdown, with the $100 million guarantee having been smashed twice in recent months. Pliska said their main goal is to incorporate a unique flavor to their major online tournaments, in a bid to take player experience to a whole new level. <\/p>\n<p>The <em>WPT World Online Championships<\/em> is not your typical online festival \u2013 it involves a lot of new, interesting elements not seen before. Pliska said they\u2019ve always wanted to showcase poker\u2019s narrative side, the personal stories of players, their hardwork and dedication, and the things they\u2019ve gone through to achieve their goals. With partypoker requiring the use of real names in tournaments, it will be easier for the WPT to tell these stories. <\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, late registration and re-entries are reduced, with the championship events allowing single re-entry, making the competition more intense, fun, and exciting.
