Poker players from around the world are making plans to attend the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) which starts in May.

Daniel Negreanu plans to play at the 2019 WSOP but his current focus is elsewhere for now.

On May 17, the six-time bracelet winner will marry his fiancée former PokerNews host Amanda Leatherman.

Two weeks later, Negreanu will make his way to the WSOP but this time, he will enter with a new strategy.

The Canadian poker pro has been playing the bigger buy-in events at the WSOP for years. He usually competes within the $10K – $50K buy-in range, and occasionally he takes part in the $100K or the $1 million buy-in events, which have considerably smaller fields but draw in the best poker players in the world.

The competition in larger buy-ins is significantly tougher than events with smaller buy-ins. However, if you are looking to win a WSOP bracelet, the smaller events offer the best chances. Players also play the bigger buy-in events in order to earn more points in the Player of the Year (POY) race. This year, Negreanu has decided to use a new strategy and that involves focusing on the smaller buy-in events.
