{"id":3378,"date":"2018-11-05T16:38:05","date_gmt":"2018-11-05T16:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/?p=3378"},"modified":"2018-11-05T16:38:05","modified_gmt":"2018-11-05T16:38:05","slug":"ema-zajmovic-just-misses-winning-her-second-wpt-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/ema-zajmovic-just-misses-winning-her-second-wpt-title","title":{"rendered":"Ema Zajmovic Just Misses Winning Her Second WPT Title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/11\/ema-zajmovic.jpg\" alt=\"Ema Zajmovic\" width=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3379\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/11\/ema-zajmovic.jpg 380w, https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2018\/11\/ema-zajmovic-300x197.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\">While poker operators and women poker organizations have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10pokersites.net\/news\/malta-poker-festival-continues-to-push-for-more-women-in-poker\">pushed for more women to be involved in poker<\/a>, their efforts have not had a lot of results and one of the reasons for this is because no female poker player has really lit up the circuit.<\/p>\n<p>All that changed at WPT Montreal which concluded on Sunday at the <strong>Playground Poker Club<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>There were a number of players who shined, won a lot of money and further established their reputations on the poker circuit but none more than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalpokerindex.com\/poker-players\/ema-zajmovic-211606\/\">female Canadian poker pro Ema Zajmovic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World Poker Tour<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bQtUHx_x_SA?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Main Event was the highlight of the WPT Montreal stop and saw a total of 792 player registrations. There were a number of top poker players who took part in this tournament including the likes of <strong>Marvin Rettenmaier, Jonathan Little, Mukul Pahuja and Mike Leah<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>As usual the Main Event was dominated by male poker pros but one female poker pro who is a familiar face at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.playgroundpoker.ca\">Playground Poker Club<\/a> stood her ground and continued to progress at the Main Event while male poker pros were being eliminated. The 28 year old Zajmovic played exceptionally well and make it into the top 6 poker pros and was full of confidence playing at the final table.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jiachen Gong<\/strong> was the first out of the six players to be eliminated and received C$175,500. <strong>Upeshka De Silva<\/strong> followed soon after with C$230,250 while <strong>Kauvsegan Ehamparam<\/strong> finished in fourth place and took home C$305,450 for his efforts. The final three players battling it out for the top prize was <strong>Sorel Mizzi, Patrick Serda<\/strong> and Ema Zajmovic. Mizzi was eliminated in third place for C$410,000 and it came down to a clash between Zajmovic and Serda.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"zajmovic-falls-short-of-her-second-wpt-title\">Zajmovic Falls Short Of Her Second WPT Title<\/h2>\n<p>Zajmovic won her first WPT title in 2017 when she took down the WPT Playground Main Event and won C$241,500. She put on a great fight and pushed Serda but in the end fell just short and finished second. She received C$556,000 for her second place finish and will take a lot of confidence out of being able to have another good run at a WPT event.<\/p>\n<p>Serda received C$855,000 for his first place finish along with a free seat to the WPT Tournament of Champions which <strong>has a $15,000 buy-in<\/strong> and takes place at the end of the WPT season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While poker operators and women poker organizations have pushed for more women to be involved in poker, their efforts have not had a lot of results and one of the reasons for this is because no female poker player has really lit up the circuit.
