PokerStars just finished hosting its <strong>2017 World Championship of Online Poker<\/strong> (WCOOP) which turned out to be a massive success for the company.<\/p>\n<p>PokerStars had confirmed a total of 81 events at the 2017 WCOOP along with $60 million in guaranteed prize money. That was a lot of money for an online poker tournament but the 2017 WCOOP surpassed all expectations as a record breaking 107,226 players ended up registering which boosted the overall prize pool to more than $90 million. <\/p>\n<p>At the end of the tournament, PokerStars confirmed that a total of $90,648,301 was paid out to players.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/World_Championship_of_Online_Poker\">WCOOP<\/a> organized events with high buy-ins and low buy-ins to enable poker players from different backgrounds to participate in the exciting poker tournament. <\/p>\n<p><strong>BanZzai \u2013 Poker Replays<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SE9m7zk5TAs?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>PokerStars expected its WCOOP low events to generate around $11 million in guaranteed prize money but this target was also surpassed and a total of $19 million was guaranteed with WCOOP low events. The Director of Poker Innovation and Operations at PokerStars, <strong>Severin Rasset<\/strong> said that the it was staggering to see the 2017 WCOOP generate $90 million in guaranteed prize money.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Rasset said <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We strive to bring the excitement and the thrill of a big world-class poker series to even more poker fans all over the world and it\u2019s good to see that the Low Stakes series that many of our players asked for was so well received. We know that this series is very close to everyone\u2019s hearts and we will work hard to make sure that the next one is even better.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Online poker players from all over the world participated in the 2017 WCOOP and two out of the 107,226 players ended up winning 7 figures during the online tournament. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/svzff\">Steven \u201c<em>SvZff<\/em>\u201d van Zadelhoff<\/a> who played from Malta created headlines by outlasting a total of 2,183 players to win the WCOOP-H $5,200 Main Event and a cash prize of $1,624,502.
