UniBet PokerUnibet has unveiled a new version of its player software which will now offer a distinctive experience to casual players on its site. Unibet made a strategic decision two years ago to break away from the standard modus operandi of online poker sites which rely on a client software based on an external poker network, which run occasional promotional offers and tournaments.

The team at Unibet consisted entirely of former poker professionals who wanted to do something totally different and create an environment that would be friendly to recreational players, removing standard features like live chat and options for tracking software.

The end result was a software that is completely unlike the usual poker client that most online poker sites have been known to rely on.

The move paid off and the platform has now become extremely popular. This growth and popularity of the Unibet’s new software client however resulted in critical flaws being exposed which were directly linked to the base software. The main reason for these flaws was due to the fact that the base software wasn’t stable enough to handle the pressure of new features that needed to be added continuously.

Faced with the prospect of being hampered by the limitations of the software, the Unibet team decided to start from scratch again. Built on HTML5, Unibet’s new client is robust catering to all platforms – Windows, iOS, Mac OSX, and Android.

A sneak peek of the new version of the software was revealed last week during Unibet’s flagship event at the Unibet Open Copenhagen. Unibet Head of Poker Andrew West along with poker product manager Christophe Level showcased a host of new features in the upgraded software.

The look and feel of the software has been redesigned to mimic that of popular eSports game – Hearthstone. The navigation is easy for players with improved usability, featuring large buttons, a game-like environment which has clear instructions. The software’s characteristic visual interfaces such as the cartoony avatars have also been enhanced with more options and additions.

For players, the gaming environment has become powerful and a hand history re-player has also been introduced. Another new feature is the new re-buy tournaments, a first for Unibet. The lobby design has been redone giving prominence to challenges and missions. A Hall of Fame has been added to the lobby where players can see at a glance a history of their performance, covering all key statistics.
