Global Poker Index presented the 4th Global Poker Awards which took place on 03 March at the PokerGo Studio. A total of 27 awards were handed out on the night to cover all of the categories and niches in the game of poker.

Stephen Chidwick Caps Off A Great 2022

UK poker pro Stephen Chidwick who has over $45.5 million in career poker winnings had a great night as he ended up winning 2 out of the 27 awards. Chidwick who is known for being one of the top high stakes poker players in the world won the ‘Players Choice for Toughest Opponent’ award and also finished as the “PokerGo Tour POY“!

Chidwick is ranked as the number one UK poker player in terms of his winnings based on the Hendon Mob. Chidwick who finished 2022 with a total of $ 6,973,129 in winnings, has already accumulated over $1 million in winnings in 2023 so far!

 

Some Of The Other Top Global Poker Awards

Some of the other top poker awards given away saw them go to a strong WPT and WSOP contingent. “The Fans Choice: Best Trophy” award went to the WSOP Main Event Bracelet event; the “Best Event award” went to the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas and the “Industry Person of the Year” award went to WSOP VP Jack Effel.

The fans got to play a big role as they voted for a number of awards at the 4th annual GPA. “The Fans Choice: Fave Live Stream” went to Hustler Casino Live as they have been in the news in recent months for a number of reasons!

The Fans Choice: Poker Personality of the Year” award went to Ethan ‘Rampage’ Yau while the “Fans Choice: Best Hand” award went to Robbi Jade Lew!

In January the winners of the “female GPI POY” and “male GPI PoY” awards were announced with Cherish Andrews and Stephen Song picking up the wins. Stephen Song also picked up the “GPI Mid Major PoY” award on the night! The “best comeback player of the year” award went to PHoF Phil Ivey and Angela Jordison bagged the “Breakout Player of the Year” award.
