  • Thomas Evans Zanot won the jackpot after hitting a seven-card straight flush
  • The jackpot, worth $6.4 million, is the biggest Pai Gow jackpot of all time
  • Zanot is a poker player with $1.1 million in live tournament winnings

The stars aligned for Las Vegas poker player Thomas Evans Zanot over the weekend after he won a whopping $6.4 million Pai Gow jackpot at the Caesars-owned Flamingo Hotel & Casino.

It is the biggest Pai Gow progressive jackpot of all time and follows a jackpot win in the same game back in October 2022 worth $3.5 million at Harrah’s, another property owned by Caesars.

Zanot’s Jackpot Journey

The Pai Gow jackpot usually grows to millions as it is incredibly hard to hit a seven-card straight flush. Zanot hit the lucky hand after a few hours of trying. He was already down around $375 across 300-400 hands when the massive win took place.

Twitter user Xuan Liu (@xxl23) shared that hours before hitting the jackpot at the Flamingo, Zanot asked her if there were any Pai Gow seats available at Caesars Las Vegas as the tables were already full at Harrah’s and Linq. Liu was unable to respond promptly, and the next thing she knew, Zanot scooped the $6.4 million jackpot at the Flamingo.

Zanot’s lucky hand was comprised of 8, 9, 10, J, Q, and Ace of spades along with a Joker card which was used as a substitute for King of spades. He hit the jackpot with a $5 lucky chip. Thomas Zanot will reportedly use a portion of his winnings to buy a house.

Zanot’s Poker Tournament Record

Zanot, a native of Arizona, usually takes part in low to mid-stakes events. He rarely plays in events with buy-ins above $1,500, though he took a huge risk in December when he entered the historic $10,400 WPT World Championship. He made the right decision as he finished 33rd for $99,600.

Zanot also plays at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), and so far, he has cashed in 60 events, though winning a gold bracelet remains a dream. During the 53rd edition of the festival at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas in 2022, Zanot scored a total of 10 cashes. His largest live tournament cash came in 2017 when he won a $565 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event at the Gardens Poker Classic for $162,300.

Following his massive win at the Flamingo, Zanot can now fully take his game to the next level and compete in high stakes poker.
