PokerStars: Carnaval SeriesPoker players and fans in Southern Europe will be excited to learn that PokerStars has plans to launch a new online poker series for the region.

Players from Spain, France, Portugal and Italy will have their own version of the worldwide Carnaval Series which is set to take place in February.

Two separate series will run in February with the first taking place from February 3 – 18 for players in Spain, France and Portugal. The series will feature 166 events with €10 million in total prize pools up for grabs.

Players will battle it out for the €1 million guaranteed Main Event on February 17 which has a buy-in of €250. Tournament organizers expect a strong turnout as there are a number of low buy-in events starting out at €5 which will run throughout the series.

For those players who are looking for medium to high stake games, they can take part in the €30 Masquerade which starts on February 18, featuring €100,000 in total guarantees. Some of the other events slated for the February series include two €250 Sunday Specials, each carrying a €250,000 guarantee (February 3 and 10), and a €50 Warm-up event which will take place right before the Main Event on February 17. The event offers €225,000 in guaranteed prize pool.

Carnaval Series Italy

The fun and excitement of the Carnaval series will extend to Italy, with players getting the chance to enjoy more than two weeks of action from February 10 to 25. There will be a total of 110 events carrying a combined prize pool of €5 million. The €250 Main Event will take place on February 24 and feature a €500,000 guarantee.

The shared liquidity poker agreement between Spain, Portugal and France which was launched in 2018 has turned out to be a great move for the EU poker market and PokerStars has benefited from the arrangement.

The online poker giant had good success with its record-breaking €20 million guaranteed Winter Series. Severin Rasset, director of poker innovation and operations at The Stars Group, said the company is keen on continuing the momentum this year by giving Southern European players the opportunity to take part in the Carnaval Series.

PokerStars is looking to attract poker players of all levels in these EU markets as it looks to build its player database and continue its dominance as the number one poker website in the world.
