There were three players from Brazil and two from Austria at the final table but in the end it was Slovakian player Rok Gostisa who came from behind to win the Main Event and take home $959,493 for his first place finish.

Austrian Vlad Darie took out Brazil’s Joao Simao who finished in 9th place for $76,713 and Canadian David Peters then made a strong run by taking out another Brazilian as Rodrigo Sirichuk exited in 8th place for $97,472. Peters had over a 100 million in chips but Darie pushed forward taking down Manuel Fritz in 7th place for $123,182 and Brit Talal Shakerchi in 6th place for $156,421.

Peters then went on to eliminate Austrian Philipp Hofbauer in 5th place for $202,734 and later the final Brazilian at the table as Bruno Volkmann exited in 4th place with $296,185. It initially looked like either Peters or Darie would end up winning the Main Event but Gostisa took Darie down.

Darie finished in third place and took home $453,677. The action came down to Peters and Gostisa with Peters having more than twice the chips that Gostisa had. The Slovakian played courageously and slowly saw him cut down the chip lead and then get a lead of his own.

With the momentum behind him, Gostisa was full of confidence and it showed in his decisions and gameplay. Peters ran out of steam in the final stretch and had to settle for second place and take home $660,482.
