PokerStars To Host Biggest Online High Roller Event

PokerstarsThere has been a number of super high stake poker live events scheduled over the past couple of years and they have been well received by the poker community. This popular concept is now set to move over to the online poker industry as PokerStars, the biggest online poker website in the world has announced a special $51,000 Super High Roller NL Hold’em Event.

The $51,000 Super High Roller NL Hold’em Event is scheduled to take place on the 20th of September 2015 during the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP).

This tournament will be the biggest online poker high roller event in the history of online poker with a $51,000 buy-in and is expected to attract some of the biggest online poker pros in the world along with VIP amateur players.

PokerStars has hosted high roller events in the past but the buy-in has always been below $25,000. This special event will have a $1 million guarantee but PokerStars plans on promoting the event extensively and expects atleast 40 players to sign up pushing the guarantee to atleast $2 million.

PokerStars Team Pro members will also be present at the event and leading the pack will be Daniel Negreanu who is currently campaigning for the legalization of online poker in California. Negreanu will take a break from his campaign efforts and represent PokerStars in this high roller event.

In a statement, Negreanu said

Over the last few years we have seen the emergence of Super High Roller events at live events across the globe. I think it only makes sense that the world’s largest poker site is also the host of the largest buy-in online poker tournament ever. I’m excited to test my skills against the best of the best, online.

The WCOOP will take place between the 6th – 27th of September and the $51,000 Super High Roller NL Hold’em Event will be one of the highlights of the tournament along with the Main Event of the WCOOP which has a $10 million guaranteed prize pool. Many of the top poker players in the world are expected to take part in the WCOOP and PokerStars expects quite a few of them to signup up for the super high roller online poker event. Jason Mercier has also confirmed that he will take part in PokerStar’s super roller event. PokerStars will release more information on players who have registered in the coming weeks.
