PokerStars has just officially announced that they will be launching an annual Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC). The buy-in to this unique event will be $25,000 and it will take place in Jan 2019 – a week before the 2019 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The PSPC is an exclusive live poker tournament which will have PokerStars put in at least $9 million into the prize pool. The format is interesting as PokerStars has announced that $8 million of the prize pool money will be put into special “Platinum Passes” and the balance $1 million will be given to the eventual PSPC winner.

The Platinum Pass which is valued at $30,000 will include the $25,000 buy-in as well as six nights’ accommodation to Atlantis Resort in Nassau, and $2,000 for travel expenses. PokerStars has also announced that those who win a Platinum Pass will also receive a special and exciting prizes and rewards but have not shed any light on what this will be.

In a statement, Chief Executive Officer of The Stars Group, Rafi Ashkenazi said

We expect the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship will set the new global standard for live poker tournaments. We want to demonstrate and reinforce our commitment to the game, and give something back to the players by investing in our live events in a meaningful way. Our objective is to create an event that brings professionals and amateurs together, creating many winning moments and unforgettable stories

Poker players will be very interested to take part in the inaugural PSPC tournament and will also be eager to secure a Platinum Pass. PokerStars has laid out an ambitious plan for players of multiple skill levels to get a chance at a pass. The company has also confirmed that they will be limiting the number of passes to be given out to be 300.

The first way to secure a pass is to win one of the several featured online tournaments like the Sunday Million and Sunday Storm. Players can also win a MicroMillions event, as well as a Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP), a World Championship of Poker event (WCOOP). Players can visit PokerStars to see a full list of events that qualify for a Platinum Pass.

Live event players will also have a chance to obtain a Platinum Pass as winners of “Tier 1” events will be eligible. PokerStars has also announced that they will release more information throughout the year on their website, informing players of the different ways then can win a Platinum Pass.
