  • Both players have been removed from the Player of the Year Leaderboard
  • Poker community divided over PokerGo’s ban of Imsirovic and Schindler

PokerGo has become the second prominent brand to officially take action and ban two prominent poker pros in Ali Imsirovic and Jake Schindler. The ban comes after both players have been accused of cheating allegations.

Ali Imsirovic and Jake Schindler Removed From POY Leaderboard

Ali Imsirovic finished as the 2021 PokerGo Player of the Year and has over $18.6 million in prize money while Jake Schindler has over $35.4 million in career prize money. Both players are high stakes poker players whose absence was felt at the recent Triton Poker Series in Cyprus and the European Poker Tour (EPT).

A number of prominent poker pros accused both Ali Imsirovic and Jake Schindler of cheating in 2022.

GGPoker was the first big name to ban both these players after the online poker room banned them for using real-time assistance (RTA) software.

Juha Pasanen who heads Game Integrity at Entain would go on to share more details and say that both players allegedly resorted to chip dumping and multi-accounting when they were playing high stakes poker. Pasanen was unhappy with these two prominent poker pros setting a bad example and wanted the global poker community to put together a blacklist of poker pros who resorted to cheating.

PokerGo decided that it was time for it to issue bans on Imsirovic and Schindler with immediate effect. PokerGo has confirmed that both players were suspended indefinitely and will no longer be part of the PokerGo Player of the Year (POY) leaderboard. They will no longer be able to take part in the Poker Masters tournament or any other events organized by the brand.

PokerGo released a statement and said that it decided to ban both players in order to protect the integrity of its brand and ensure that proper conduct is maintained by all players.

Poker Community Has Mixed Reactions

There were many players who were happy to see PokerGo come down hard on Imsirovic and Schindler and send a strong message to the global poker community that cheating will not be tolerated.

However, a number of other players questioned the decision to ban both players based on mere allegations as there was no proof to show that they had cheated.
