Poker Players Do Not Need To Wear Masks All The Time During 2021 WSOP

Last Updated on September 8, 2021 Author:Juan Blanco

When the WSOP announced that only players who were fully vaccinated would be allowed to enter the tournament, it created a lot of unrest. To make things even more difficult, the WSOP announced that it was also mandatory to wear masks during the 2021 WSOP which runs from Sep 30 to Nov 23 at the Rio in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A lot of players started asking questions about why a face mask was required at the WSOP when the State of Nevada Emergency Directive 050 makes it clear that venues that have fully vaccinated patrons do not have to wear masks.

The WSOP has now clarified that face masks will not be mandatory for poker players as long as they are seated at the poker table. However they will have to wear face masks whenever they are not at the table.

Just to make sure that players are aware of the dos and don’ts when it comes to wearing a mask, the WSOP has provided more information under its Frequently Asked Questions page. Players must put on their masks when they leave the table for a toilet break or take a break from poker and walk down the hallways of the Rio.

The simple rule to follow here is that when you are seated at the table – no mask, no problem! However if you get up to move from one table to another table, make sure you wear your mask or you will be asked to do so!

No Chance For Full Vaccination Policy To Be Dropped

A lot of poker players are now thinking twice about playing at the 2021 WSOP due to the mandatory full vaccination requirement. Now that the WSOP has made a few changes to its face mask policy, a few players are hopeful that the WSOP might also relax its full vaccine mandatory requirement.

Don’t get your hopes up as the WSOP is not going to change this policy anytime soon. The FAQ section has made it clear that the WSOP will not accept a negative COVID-19 test nor will it accept a medical or religious exemption to the vaccine as some states do.

If you are not fully vaccinated you will not be allowed to play at the 2021 WSOP. To find out more information, check out the WSOP FAQ or why not skip all the hassle and play online instead, you don’t need to provide a vaccine certificate and can play anyway, antime – we have picked some of our best US poker sites for your consideration.
