Malta To Consider Setting Up Responsible Gambling Foundation

MaltaTonio Fenech, Finance Minister announced that the government will be setting up a responsible gambling foundation that will be responsible to finance responsible gaming initiatives as well as administering the responsible gaming fund.

The foundation will include the design of mechanisms to aid organizations that help people with gambling problems as well as focusing on the study of problem gambling. It will support all activities that will help people stay away from falling into the traps of problem gambling.

However, the responsible gambling foundation will be supported by the industry. The Ministry of Family Affairs and Social Solidarity will be in conjunction with the foundation.

This establishment was disclosed by Chris Cardona, the Economy Minister and further mentioned that the foundation will be officially administered from the offices of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority.

Edward Zammit Lewis, the Parliamentary Secretary said that they are establishing the prevention of social problems that is set to join the foundation and this also resulted in many private shareholders wanting to participate.

Dr Zammit Lewis statted tghat the foundation will be self-sufficient and will not get revenue from the government as allocated budget and neither would the revenue go towards workers’ emoluments.
