Summary
- Scott Seiver decided to opt out of his rematch with Phil Hellmuth on HSD
- PokerGO decided to choose GGPoker ambassador Jason Koon as his replacement
- Will Jason Koon be able to beat the Poker Brat on HSD?
Fans of the popular High Stakes Duel (HSD) poker games on PokerGo were initially excited to see Phil Hellmuth rematch Scott Seiver on August 22.
The two players battled it out during the first half of 2022 and Hellmuth who has been dominant on HSD got the better of Seiver and won $800,000.
Scott Seiver had the option to take a rematch for another $800,000 and decided to take the rematch option to see if he could win his money back. However, Seiver had a sudden change of heart just a couple of weeks before his High Stakes Duel III rematch.
PokerGo Chooses Jason Koon As Replacement
It’s always tough when a poker player decides to suddenly pull out close to the match date and find a replacement. PokerGo got a strong response from the high stakes poker community as there were a number of top poker pros who were keen to throw their hat into the ring and face Phil Hellmuth on High Stakes Duel III.
Due to personal reasons, Scott Seiver has withdrawn from his upcoming HSD 3 Round 5 match with Phil Hellmuth (@phil_hellmuth).
Who wants to step up and challenge Phil Hellmuth?
You need $800K and to let us know by Monday, Aug 15 at 3PM PT*. pic.twitter.com/nMQSlAepCq

Some of the players who expressed interest in facing the Poker Brat included Matt Berkey who has over $4.6 million in prize money and Bryn Kenney who has over $57 million in prize money and is ranked number 1 on the All Time Money list. We think PokerGo might have avoided Bryn Kenney for now due to the number of cheating accusations that have been made against him in recent months.
PokerGo decided to pick GGPoker ambassador and high stakes poker pro Jason Koon to be the replacement for Seiver. Koon has over $38 million in prize money and is ranked 8th on the All Time Money list.
Jason Koon (@JasonKoon) has been selected to challenge Phil Hellmuth (@phil_hellmuth) but Phil has told us he will no longer play on the originally scheduled date.

Will Koon Be Able To Beat Phil Hellmuth On HSD III?
Koon is a modern day high stakes poker player who has risen very quickly to the top. He gets a chance to test himself against a Poker Hall of Famer and put the modern vs. veteran poker player styles to the test. The two have completely different personalities and also have an age difference of more than 20 years between them.
Will Koon be able to upset Hellmuth on HSD III or will Hellmuth continue to be dominant at HSD. PokerGo is yet to confirm a date for the Hellmuth vs. Koon match.
