Syracuse, NY-born Isaac Haxton continued his reign over the high-stakes poker world with a fresh victory in Event #6 of the 2024 Poker Masters Presented by PokerStars NAPT.
In parallel, Tampa, Florida resident Jeremy Becker with $2,446,766 in total live earnings suffered a hard defeat.
Fourth Cash and First Win of the Series
Tuesday’s victory that unfolded at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas brought the 39-year-old a $352,800 prize.
The 2023 PGT Player of the Year this way scored his fourth cash and first win of the series by taking down Event #6: $15,100 No-Limit Hold’em tournament.
The six players that were still in the books on Monday came back to the PokerGO Studio for Day 2, which saw local grinder Jeremy Becker make a dramatic exit after suffering a tough defeat shortly after he bluffed off half his stack.
Former WPT champion and WSOP bracelet owner Dylan Linde was first to go at the final table, taking home $63,000.
He was followed by 103 GPI ranked Sean Winter with $31,598,607 in total live earnings, who grabbed $88,200 in cash, and WSOP bracelet owner Aram Zobian with $5,481,176 in total live earnings who scooped up $119,700.
That triggered the three-handed play between Becker, Haxton, and 21 GPI ranked and WSOP bracelet owner with $9,497,641 in total live earnings Jim Collopy.
The fight for the title unfolded with plenty of adrenaline-pumping action.
Becker Was In the Chip Lead
Becker went into Day 2 with a commanding chip lead and he seemed poised for another deep run.
Nonetheless, things started to unravel after an ambitious bluff in a three-handed play against Jim Collopy.
With blinds at 50,000/100,000 and holding Q♥3♦, Becker raised from the small blind to 275,000.
Collopy called and Becker fired a 225,000 bet with queen-high to which Collopy answered with a call.
Eventually, Haxton shoved from the small blind with 10♠6♠, and Becker had to call off his 2.3 million chips.
Becker exited the table in third place and took home $163,800, his second six-figure score of the series after reigning over Event #2 with $255,000.
His exit led to the heads-up battle between Haxton and Collopy, who had almost identical chip stacks.
Haxton came out with flying colors, nearing $50 million in lifetime live tournament earnings. Collopy, who grabbed $226,800, is still looking for his first Poker Masters title.
Event #7: $15,100 No-Limit Hold’em, which kicked off on the same day, will wrap with a $25,200 No-Limit Hold’em event on Wednesday.
At the end of the tournament, the Purple Jacket winner will be crowned. Both Becker and Collopy are strong contenders.
