  • The festival offers 30 Crore in guarantees across 116 events
  • The winners will receive NFTs as additional rewards

The 12th edition of the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) kicked off on January 20, offering 30 crore in guaranteed prizes. The festival promises a unique experience for poker players as for the first time, some awards will be given away in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The massive series runs until February 6 on the Quadnet Poker Network, the largest poker network in India comprised of Spartan Poker, BlitzPoker and PokerHigh.

The latest edition of the IOPC features a jam-packed schedule of 116 events, with buy-ins starting from 550 rupees. Apart from the tournament prizes on offer, players may also boost their winnings via the leaderboard, which awards an additional 1 crore to the top finishers. The player who ends up at the top takes home the Player of the Series title and 30 Lakh as top prize.

Players can also take advantage of plenty of freerolls running weekly throughout the series. These tournaments award free seats to some of the biggest events on the schedule.

First To Incorporate NFTs into an Online Series

The 12th edition of the massive festival incorporates a unique element into the overall experience, with the winners also being awarded NFTs. Spartan Poker is a pioneer in this aspect and the company’s founder and CEO Amin Rozani couldn’t be prouder. Rozani believes in the strong potential that NFTs have and the amazing prospects they can bring into the online gaming industry.

Over the years, IOPC winners have received gold trophies and badges, as well as a diamond-studded crown (given to the winner of the series’ Main Event) as additional awards, on top of the prize money. Now, Spartan is joining the latest digital craze by also awarding NFTs to the top finishers. Given the increasing monetary value that NFTs have these days, Rozani said players will appreciate their latest move.

NFTs are unique digital forms of any real-world items, including art, music, videos, or photos. They cannot be replaced, copied, or interchanged. When you buy an NFT, you claim ownership of the original item. NFTs offer a modern, more secure way of collecting items, and Rozani believes the new technology can help transform the gaming industry from a play-to-win to a play-to-earn model.
