GPI To Host Closed Event For Poker Leaders In London

The Global Poker Index (GPI) started out as a website that offered an innovative ranking system which rated poker players from around the world.

Since then the company under the leadership of its chief executive officer Alex Dreyfus has come up with a number of unique promotions, events and awards that has established the GPI as one of the premier brands in the global poker industry.

There have been reports that top executives from iPoker, MPN, partypoker and 888poker will be attending the event along with the head of poker from Unibet.

Amaya has also not confirmed if it will be sending representatives from the PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker brands. The GPI is yet to release an official list of these top executives who will be present for the closed door meeting in London.

One of the key objectives of the meeting is to get these key players in the industry to sit down and come up with a unique strategy that will help speed up the growth of poker across the world and create a much bigger client base for all involved. This closed door by invitation only event will probably be conducted like a high-level mastermind where the best ideas get fast tracked for the benefit of the global poker community.

GPI CEO Alex Dreyfus made a statement earlier this year saying

We, the GPI, want to ‘sportify‘ poker. This does not mean that we want to make poker a sport, but that we want to use the same logic that runs behind the sports industry to promote poker. If we want to serve poker-related content to the media on a weekly basis, and if we want people to talk about poker, we need to build a platform — a league that will give everyone a reason to be engaged and interested in the game.

The GPI has also tried in the past to bring the leading poker companies together to achieve a common objective. The company has organized poker conferences in Malta, San Francisco and London having a number of panel discussions and knowledge sharing seminars. The GPI will also promote its unique Global Poker League which is being promoted as the world cup of Poker.
