GPI Signs Multi-Year Content Deal with USA TODAY

The Global Poker Index (GPI) is one of the leading poker ranking systems in the world and is currently focused on changing the global concept of poker from being a game of chance to a game of skill. The company under the leadership of CEO Alexandre Dreyfus has come up with a number of new initiatives in the last eighteen months to promote the game of poker to a global audience and build a bigger fan following.

The GPI recently announced that it had entered into a multi-year partnership with USA Today Sports Media Group for USA Today Sports to launch an online portal that will focus only on all poker related activities that the GPI implements to spread the game. USA TODAY is one of the leading newspapers in the nation and is estimated to have the same reach as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

This new agreement will now make USA TODAY Sports the official media partner of the Global Poker League (GPL), one of the new initiatives being launched by the GPI. The new portal that USA Today launches will focus on the GPI ranking system, player profiles, poker live coverage and breaking news. USA Today is expected to publish content digitally and also via print media.

Dreyfus called this a very important partnership for the GPI as it gives the company a great platform to release their new initiatives and also promote the top players based on the GPI. One of the main goals for the GPI in the coming months, is to prepare for the first ever GPL and the will bring together a collection of players from different countries who will then be split into different teams based on the country. The GPL will need all the publicity is can get to promote this first time event and turn it into an event that becomes a flagship event on the poker circuit.
