Summary:

  • During a red-carpet interview at the Golden Globes, Co-star Ellie Fanning revealed Timothée Chalamet’s poker abilities.
  • Fanning noted Chalamet is “pretty good at poker” and that she also enjoys playing online for fun.
  • Chalamet discussed poker further in a podcast with Theo Von, referencing the classic film Rounders and his co-star Ed Norton.

Timothée Chalamet, widely recognized for his captivating roles on screen, revealed an intriguing side of himself during the 2025 Golden Globes, where he was nominated for “Best Performance by a Male Actor” for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown”.

While the 29-year-old French-American actor has garnered critical acclaim for his gripping performance as the legendary folk-rock musician, he faced tough competition from Adrien Brody, who won the award for his portrayal of László Tóth in “The Brutalist”.

Fanning: “He’s Pretty Good at Poker”

Chalamet’s dedication to his craft is evident, but his poker skills also caught attention during a red-carpet interview with E! News’ Zuri Hall.

When asked if there was anything about Chalamet that might surprise fans, Ellie Fanning, who starred alongside him also in “A Rainy Day in New York” where he played a successful gambler shared an unexpected revelation.

He’s so dedicated and focused in his work, he’s actually kind of just a goofball. And he’s pretty good at poker

The 26-year-old actress, known for her own career success and for being the sister of Dakota Fanning, also opened up about her own poker experiences.

During the same interview, she revealed she enjoys playing for fun on PokerStars, though she was careful not to share her screen name.

As for whether Fanning is better at poker than Chalamet, she hesitated before answering, saying,

I don’t know. No, not necessarily

It seems like the two actors might both be skilled in the game, though their online experiences may not quite match the stakes of real-money poker.

Chalamet: “You Ever Play Texas Hold’em?”

Chalamet’s interest in poker was also brought up during a recent podcast interview with Theo Von, where the actor mentioned his co-star, Ed Norton, who is famous for his role in the iconic poker film “Rounders”.

Chalamet, known for his easy-going demeanor, asked Von,

You ever see ‘Rounders’? You ever play Texas hold’em?

Beyond the spotlight of award ceremonies, Chalamet’s poker skills are just one more facet of his versatile personality.

In addition to his growing list of acting accolades, including four previous Golden Globe nominations, Chalamet’s relationship with socialite Kylie Jenner was also a topic of attention at the ceremony, which the two attended together.
