Global Poker Drops Paypal To Partner With WorldPay

Last Updated on July 9, 2018 Author:Adrian Sterne

Global PokerGlobal Poker is one of the few online poker sites that offers legalized poker services to US based players.

The online poker website does this by using a unique model that technically does not classify as online gambling when players use their services, making it perfectly legal to operate in America.

Online poker for real money is banned throughout the United States except for a few states. Global Poker has set up systems to ensure that players can still win both real and play money without breaching any laws. In the past, the company partnered with PayPal to offer players a way to get their winnings. However, Global Poker has now dropped PayPal and brought on a new partner – WorldPay.

This is a surprising move since it took a lot of effort for Global Poker to convince PayPal that it would not be caught in legal problems by providing payment services. PayPal has always been wary of connecting itself to gambling sites, especially one that could have landed it in trouble in the U.S. The payment processing company finally got on board and started processing Global Poker payments.

However, many of Global Poker’s customers complained about the payment options being very limited. Which is why Global Poker has decided to drop PayPal and partner with WorldPay instead.

In a statement, Laurence Escalante, CEO of GP, said

One thing our customers have made clear to us is that they would like more choice when it comes to payment methods. WorldPay’s extensive network and vast expertise allow us to give our players this choice.

WorldPay is able to provide a lot more options for payments and withdrawals when compared to Paypal. The only drawback is that PayPal is known for its faster and more efficient transfer speed of transfers, something that WorldPay will have to improve.

U.S. Players Should Have No Issues

Global Poker has already received some very positive responses from its withdrawal services. A customer did a $500 withdrawal recently and they were able to receive their money in just 24 hours. The service was compared to how PokerStars, one of the best poker sites in the world, operates. This proves that Global Poker has the chops to offer poker in the U.S. with little to no problems.

Global Poker works by offering gold coins and $weeps Cash. These are used for playing games on the site. However, they cannot be exchanged for real money. What people can do is use their play-money to win tournaments and ring games that offer real-money prizes. Additionally, $weeps Cash can also be used to get bonus sweepstakes prizes.
