American professional poker player specializing in No Limit Hold’em Doug Polk is gearing up for a new online poker challenge.
This time around, the challenge is focused on ClubWPT Gold, a social poker platform that’s making waves in the poker community, with special emphasis on X.
Polk, who also co-owns The Lodge Card Club near Austin, Texas, plans to play for a $100,000 prize for one month, beginning March 3.
The Challenge, Livestreamed on YouTube
I’m setting out to win $100,000 in one month on the new online poker site @ClubWPTGold. Everything I win will be given back to people who sign up and deposit using code: DOUG. It’s called the “Code Doug” Challenge, and I’ll stream the whole thing. The challenge starts Monday, March 3, and lasts for a month. I’ll stream every session playing the public games on @ClubWPTGold.
Throughout the challenge, Polk will livestream his gameplay on his popular YouTube channel, where he has amassed 420,000 subscribers.
His goal, as explained in a recent YouTube video, is to demonstrate that “the dream is still alive” for skilled players who can succeed in online poker without resorting to cheating.
With issues like real-time assistance tools, ghosting, and collusion becoming more prevalent, Polk wants to show that it’s still possible to win online fairly.
As part of the giveaway, every cent of Doug’s profits will be donated to those who sign up on ClubWPT Gold using his dedicated code in the USA and Canada.
Not His First Rodeo
Polk is no stranger to online poker challenges. He previously took on a $100 to $10,000 bankroll challenge in 2018, which he completed successfully, though it took longer than expected.
As a heads-up specialist, Polk also famously defeated his former rival, Daniel Negreanu, for $1.2 million over 25,000 hands in 2020.
For his current challenge, Polk plans to focus exclusively on no-limit hold’em ring games.
The fresh challenge is not the only thing that has attracted attention to ClubWPT Gold. The social poker launched last year and partnered with the World Poker Tour is also known for its bold and often humorous posts on X.
The platform’s account, likely managed by Polk’s video editor, Thomas Keeling, has gained a reputation for calling out different figures and organizations in the community, sparking controversy.
ClubWPT Gold The platform employs a sweepstakes model, allowing players to sign up for free and play using Gold Coins, or purchase Sweeps Coins to exchange for real money prizes.
