Dominik NitscheSummary

  • Long-time 888poker ambassador Dominik Nitsche has parted ways with the brand
  • Brazil’s Alexandre Mantovani fills the hole left by Nitsche
  • 888poker will likely sign more new ambassadors this year

Dominik Nitsche has decided to move on from his role as 888poker ambassador. The German poker pro cut ties with the brand after seven years. His departure was announced last week via the operator’s Twitter page.

Nitsche secured a sponsorship deal with 888poker back in June 2015 after making a name in both the live and online poker arenas. When he joined the brand, he was already a 3-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion and highly-accomplished online poker pro.

Throughout his partnership with 888poker, he won one more bracelet, with his total live earnings climbing to more than $18 million.

The reason for Nitsche’s departure from the online poker site remains unknown, but the site was grateful for what it described as a great ride with the German poker superstar. The operator, through a video tribute on Twitter, thanked Nitsche for the seven amazing years and wished him the best in his future endeavors.

888poker Signs Alexandre “Cavalito” Mantovani

Nitsche may have parted ways with 888poker but his role was quickly filled by poker pro Alexandre “Cavalito” Mantovani who was recently signed by the operator. Mantovani hails from Brazil, the native country of another 888poker ambassador, Vivian Saliba.

Mantovani is an accomplished player both live and online – he has amassed $5.5 million in online cash throughout his career, in addition to $361,000 in live earnings.

888poker’s ambassador roster has constantly evolved since Martin Jacobson left the site back in January 2021.
Chris Moorman also ended his sponsorship deal in August of last year, but the operator announced two additions to the roster just a month later – American poker pro Sam Abernathy and Twitch streamer Jordan Banfield. Earlier this year, Sofia Lovgren also parted ways with the brand after eight years as a sponsored pro.

This leaves 888poker with only two ambassadors from the old Team Pro – Saliba and Canadian journalist Kara Scott. They are joined by Abernathy and most recently, Mantovani. The main crew is comprised of four members, but the site has also expanded its Twitch Stream Team with the signing of Germany’s Rene “renemastermix” Majed and Andrei “andreicoz” Cosmin from Romania. The site also recently welcomed Chris Eubank Jr. as its new cultural ambassador.

888poker is expected to make more changes to its brand ambassador’s stable before the end of 2022.
