Daniel Negreanu who sits second on the All Time Money list with close to $40 million in career prize money surprised a lot of his fans and members in the poker community when he parted ways with PokerStars after being an ambassador for 12 years.

He once again surprised fans this week when he decided to put up his 2019 WSOP action for sale with a zero mark-up.

There are thousands of poker players who are selling their WSOP action on popular poker staking websites like YouStake and PokerStaking. Daniel Negreanu who is a member of the Poker Hall of Fame decided to put his 2019 WSOP action up for sale on his own website.

Negreanu put up three different packages for those backers who wanted a piece of the action. The first tier was the low roller where a total of $15,164 was expected to be raised with the min purchase was $5 and the max was $50. The mid stakes tier looked to raise a total of $62,855 and the min stake was fixed at $5 and $500. The high roller tier expected to raise the most cash ($200,000) and the min stake here was set at $5 and $5,000.

The low roller stake would fund Negreanu’s WSOP games which had a buy-in of less than $1, 500. The mid stakes tier would fund his buy-ins at WSOP events which were between $1,501 to $10,000 and the high roller stake would fund buy-ins above $10,001.

Negreanu released a video to announce that his website would start the sale on 24 May and the response was so overwhelming that his server crashed. He apologized to his fans and rescheduled the sale for the next day. This time around the website did not crash but there was still problems as the sale was oversubscribed by a massive amount. Instead of raising around $275,000, Negreanu went on to raise over $1.8 million in minutes.

Refunds With An Apology

There were a lot of his backers who were initially very happy that they managed to get a piece of his WSOP action. However, many of them were left disappointed as they received an email from Negreanu which informed them that they had messed things up and allowed the sale to get oversubscribed.

Negreanu is in the process of issuing refunds and to make it up to them, has promised this group special access to exclusive packages throughout the 2019 WSOP.
