Daniel Dvoress Has Made Millions Playing Poker Without Winning

Last Updated on December 13, 2017 Author:Adrian Sterne

Canadian professional poker player Daniel Dvoress knows what it takes to win consistently at the poker table and finish in the money, even though he does not know what it is like to finish first and win a tournament.

Dvoress has made over $6 million in career prize money, playing poker all around the world. That’s an amazing feat given the fact that the Toronto poker pro was able to win millions without ever finishing first.

Dvoress has a great formula that has allowed him to become a multi-millionaire playing poker. He focuses only on high stake poker events as he knows that even if he does not win the event, he only needs to place within the top ten, to walk away with a lot of money.

He has done rather well in 2017 and was able to win 6 figure cashouts on seven different occasions. The biggest cashout that the Canadian won in 2017 was a whopping $908,595 for placing third in the PSC Monte Carlo €100,000 Super High Roller tournament.

Perhaps the oddest thing about Dvoress’ story is that he does not play any World Series of Poker (WSOP) events at all. The Toronto native decides to pass on the most popular poker tournament in the world because he prefers to take a break during summer and enjoy the weather in Toronto. He also cited the tax laws that Canadians have to comply with in America as another reason for avoiding the WSOP. However in 2018, he plans to give the WSOP Main Event a shot.

Dvoress recently opened up about his performances in 2017 and his empty trophy cabinet. He states that he has become the master of placing from second to seventh in seventh and could hold the record for having the most cash outs without a single victory. What’s important to him at this point of time is that he is enjoying playing high stake events and does not mind the extensive travel that he endures to play poker tournaments all over the world.

Dvoress is still unsure which specific tournaments he will be playing each month in 2018 and says he does not really plan things out. He has confirmed that he will take part in most of the top poker tournaments, starting with the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) in Jan 2018, followed by the PCA in Barcelona in October.
