chris moormanPoker pro Chris Moorman has reached a new milestone with his online winnings surpassing $13 million after a recent win in the 888 Sunday Challenge.

Moorman is considered to be one of the top online poker players in the industry and has been dominating the all-time money list for online poker. He was the first player to cross $10 million in online poker tournament winnings in 2013 and has been ranked as the world’s No. 1 online poker player 22 times in his career till date.

Moorman has been waiting to break a new record in online poker earnings for quite some time.

With 777 entries, the 888 Sunday Challenge offered a prize pool of $102,504 and Moorman had a great run and ended up eventually winning the event and taking home winnings of $18,809 and with it, crossed the $13 million mark.

Interview with Chris Moorman by Sky Poker in December discusing some of his biggest poker achievements.

In a statement, Chris Moorman said,

I was close — about $50,000 away for awhile — and it was [the Turbo Championship of Online Poker] and a chance to get a big score, but I kept missing out so it was nice to go over the line with a win rather than just a min-cash or something like that . It’s just little targets to keep me motivated when I play online because obviously I’ve played online for years, so I need set myself goals or else it becomes sort of a bit boring and mundane.

His next aim is to win a major title at a tournament like the Spring Championship of Online Poker Main Event and cross $14 million. Moorman prefers online poker to live tournaments, saying that live poker is not as exciting as online poker since live games do not become fun until deep in the game, which takes time as there are generally 500-600 players in the most high stake tournaments.

Nevertheless he kicked off his live poker tournaments career by winning the 2014 World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic taking home $1.015 million. But despite this live poker win, Moorman prefers to participate in live poker tournaments only occasionally. Moorman explained his stance by saying that he is particular about the tournaments he plays in as he doesn’t like to play live tournaments back-to-back.

That might change now that Moorman has opted to play in the Global Poker League(GPL). The format of the GPL is completely fresh, where players face-off against each other in teams of three in a fast game of poker. Moorman said that he was excited to be a part of the draft and hopes to be picked, adding that he would be in Los Angeles on February 25 to be a part of the draft day.
