BetMGM Poker Network Inching Closer to Grabbing No. 2 Spot In Pennsylvania

Last Updated on May 4, 2023 Author:Juan Blanco

BetMGM Poker & Borgata PokerSummary:

  • The BetMGM Poker Network reported impressive results for March 2023
  • Its revenue continues to increase year-over-year along with its market share
  • The same cannot be said for WSOP PA whose revenue has been in decline

The BetMGM Poker network is performing well in Pennsylvania, recording continuous growth for five straight months, with March’s figures at record levels.

The network, comprised of BetMGM Poker PA and Borgata Poker PA, could very well surpass WSOP PA as the second biggest online poker room in the Keystone State.

Could Overtake WSOP To Become 2nd Biggest Network in Pennsylvania

According to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), the BetMGM Poker network reported a record high $486,000 in revenue in March 2023. This represents a year-over-year growth of 27.4%.

BetMGM Poker’s revenue in March hit $356,000, its third biggest by far, though slightly down from February. Still, the figure translates to a year-over-year increase of 27%, good for a market share of 12.3%. Its sister skin Borgata Poker PA reported its best month ever with nearly $130,000 in revenue, up 35% from March 2022. It now holds a market share of 4.5%, another record high for the site.

PokerStars PA is still the no. 1 online poker room in Pennsylvania, reporting $1.8 million in revenue in March. While its market share suffered a year-over-year drop of 7.7%, the operator still holds a dominant market position with 62%.

March was also a huge month for WSOP PA as the operator generated $614,000, its biggest monthly revenue since August 2022. But here’s the catch – the online poker room’s market share fell to 21.3% from 30% in March 2022. The latest figure is also down 33.1% from the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the BetMGM network now has a total market share of 16.8%, which means it’s close to grabbing the no.2 spot from WSOP PA.

Not a Good Sign for WSOP PA

WSOP’s latest results in Pennsylvania pale in comparison to its performance in the same period last year, and to add insult to injury, it’s also lagging behind its competitors in Michigan, with BetMGM Poker MI now at no.2.

WSOP’s online platforms in New Jersey and Nevada have yet to be upgraded, and it’s now competing with the PokerStars US network in terms of shared liquidity.

WSOP PA must level up if it wants to keep pace with competition. Otherwise, the BetMGM network will take its place in the US online poker market.
