888Poker Celebrates Fifth Mega Deep Event Anniversary

The world’s second biggest online poker site, 888poker has announced that its popular $215 Mega Deep event will have a special anniversary edition.

Planned for Nov 27, the event will offer a fabulous prize pool that is sure to attract a large number of poker players. 888poker’s Mega Deep event had its start in 2012 when it was launched as an online tournament for poker enthusiasts. As it grew in popularity, the event was converted into a weekly affair, consistently attracting some of top poker players of the world. In the five years since, it has become hugely popular with each week attracting a significant number of entries.

The games usually have a guaranteed prize pool in the range of $100,000 and $150,000 but this special anniversary event will have a huge pot of $500,000.

The Nov 27 event will also have the usual $215 buy-in and provide players with 10,000 in chips and offer 20-minute blinds and one re-entry that give players a second shot at the $500,000 prize. Satellites for this special event are already ongoing at the site with buy-ins as low as $0.01. These qualifiers make it possible for even those on a budget to have a crack at winning an entry to the special Mega Deep anniversary event.

The last Mega Deep event was held on Nov. 13 this month and had a regular buy-in of $215. The event saw a total of 660 entries generating a prize pool of $132,000, a full $12,000 more than what was expected by the tournament organizers. The event was won by a poker pro with the handle ‘que_te_crio’ who went on to win $24,750 as first prize.

One of the poker greats who is confirmed to join the mega event is 888poker ambassador Chris Moorman. The poker pro has so far notched winnings of $4.4 million in live tournament winnings and a whopping $13.7 million through online games.
