Social Media Soon To Be Abuzz With 2018 WSOP Happenings

Expect smartphones, cameras, go pros, and tons of live streaming and twitter coverage of the 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP). The 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is almost here, and the players are getting ready to set the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on fire. Like every year, the WSOP will turn out to be one of the biggest and most explosive events of summer.

The most popular poker tournament in the history of the game will bring a different flavor and a new set of winners to the table. There are bound to be new winners, old losers and a lot of controversy throughout the month and a half long tournament and the same will be heavily covered on social media and poker forums.

While we anticipate the fun and excitement at the upcoming tournament, here are some predictions that will dominate and change the game, courtesy of the industry’s most regarded reporters and media personalities.

Vlogging Coverage:

Vlogging has become hugely popular during the past few years and a number of poker pros have made new careers out of vlogging and streaming via Twitch. Even hall of famer Daniel Negreanu has taken to Twitch and now runs a channel with the handle “DNegsPoker”.

In a statement, Sarah Herring, head of video and podcasting of iBus Media, said

2018 will be the year of vlogging. Some huge names emerged as successful vloggers in 2017, and I think there will be a cascade of players that will follow that lead. I expect to see a ton of people with cameras, gimbals, phones, go pros, and more.

Watch out for these poker pros-turned-vloggers for the most entertaining and rich poker podcasts: Live cash game pro Andrew Neeme, Team PokerStars Online pro Jaime Staples, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, and grinder Tim “TheTrooper97” Watts.

Expect Twitter Drama

Twitter has become the official megaphone of all poker tournaments, where players are free to speak their minds, huge announcements and promotions are made, and where secret and controversial deals are even broadcasted.

Because of this, the global poker community is expecting a lot of action on Twitter during the WSOP. And to the question, “Which pro will first go to Twitter to make a rant about the WSOP?” We’ve got two names: Daniel Negreanu and Allen Kessler.

Tournament reporter Will Shillibier puts his bet on Negreanu as the first ranter at the WSOP. Whether it’s the Player of the Year calculations, the big blind ante, or literally everything and anything about poker, Negreanu has a thing or two to say.

Another tournament reporter Chad Holloway and iBus Media Global Live Reporting Manager Yori Epskamp are both betting on the “Complainsaw,” Allan Kessler. Kessler has been on a Twitter rant roll since last year, and they are expecting him to continue making more waves at the WSOP.
