The game of poker has continued to grow rapidly in 2017 and live poker tournaments continue to be a major attraction for poker players from around the world.

The Germans have done exceptionally well at high stakes live poker action and three German poker pros feature on the list of the top 5 players to have made the most money playing live poker tournaments in 2017.

Bryn Kenney

Keney was able to win a whopping $8,505,898 in 2017. This was his most profitable year as a poker player as he came up with great performances at multiple events.

He played extremely well at the inaugural PokerStars Championship Bahamas winning the $50,000 No-Limit Hold’Em event for $969,075 and a few days later $392,876 after finishing first in the $25,500 No-Limit Hold’em Shot Clock.

Scott Blumstein

New Jersey poker player Blumstein has made it to second place on this list, after winning $8,174,347 in 2017. Blumstein won the 2017 WSOP Main Event which brought him $8.15 million in just one event and made him one of the highest winners this year.

He hasn’t played a lot after winning the Main Event and is contemplating leaving the game for good.

Christoph Vogelsang

Vogelsang tops the list of German high roller winners in 2017 by winning a grand total of $7,665,247.

The German poker pro has had a great run this year becoming Aria Casino’s Super Higher Roller Bowl champion and also finishing sixth at WSOP Europe €111,111 High Roller event €606,694. He also won Aria’s $25,000 High Roller Tournament and took home $261,376.

Steffen Sontheimer

Sontheimer is the second German poker pro to make the top 5 shortlist. The 27-year- old poker pro started his good run of fortune back in May and continued all the way to September. He managed to accumulate $7,052,322 in winnings during the course of this year. He was the first runner-up in the Aria Casino’s $100,000 Super High Roller Tournament in May and won $1.2 million. He won the remaining $6 million playing a number of high stake events throughout the year.

Fedor Holz

The funny thing about Fedor Holz winning $6,380,187 in 2017 is that he announced in 2016 that he was going to take it easy in 2017 and play less. Holz is the third German poker player to make the list.

Although he skipped the 2017 WSOP, Holz played a number of high roller events and continued his brilliant run that has turned him into the number one poker player on Germany’s all-time money list.

Some of his major wins include two $50,000 Super High Roller events from Aria Casino and the Triton Super High Roller Series’ HK$250,000 No-Limit Hold’Em.
